Colombia has ten native species of the genus Opuntia, but this is not one of them. Cultivated between 4,000 and 8,500 feet. The fruit high in vitamin C is called higos in Colombia and is normally eaten raw after chilling and as a juice. You can normally find this fruit in supermarkets.
