

Brugmansia sanguinea
Medium size tree native to Colombia with a habitat between 7,000 and 12,500 feet. The plant contains the drug scopolamine, which can be used as a medicine or a recreational narcotic. The hallucinogen is also used for date-rape and robbery leaving the victim with no recall of the crime. All parts of the plant are poisonous. Photographed in the eastern Andes mountain range of Colombia (Cordillera Oriental).
