Brugmansia sanguinea

Native to Colombia. Does very well at the higher tropical elevations and can grow to a medium size tree. The plant contains the drug scopolamine, which can be used as a medicine or a recreational narcotic. The hallucinogen is also used for date-rape and robbery leaving the victim with no recall of the crime. Photographed in the eastern Andes mountain range of Colombia (Cordillera Oriental).
