Bixa orellana (Lipstick Tree)

A small tree native to Colombia that does well in the hot dry and cooler wet regions of Colombia. The seeds inside the red fruit are used for food coloring and spice and is cultivated on a small scale. Photographed in the Magdalena River Valley.
